Donations:

We donate a portion of the proceeds from each kit sold to a local organization in need.  We know that community organizations are having an especially difficult time right now, so we rotate our contributions weekly to support as many organizations as we can. With that said, if you know an organization, non-profit or someone who needs support at this time feel free to reach out, and we will do our best to help! Current organizations that are being supported by partial proceeds from the sales of Ember Community Kits:

"WA-BLOC’s mission is to empower academic, creative, community-connected lifelong leaders through high-impact academic and “place-based” social justice leadership development. Our vision is for South Seattle to be a thriving nucleus of Black and Brown excellence where community-based, intergenerational leaders come together for equitable transformative education and liberation. WA-BLOC achieves this vision through year-round educational programming that re-engages students in school, dismantles systemic racism, and disrupts the school to prison pipeline for black and brown youth in South Seattle." RVFB stands as a trusted community resource, serving as Seattle’s busiest food bank. Together, we create a place to grow access, knowledge, & stability. Your support provides fresh, culturally relevant produce for our guests, brings students & their families to the table over nourishing meals, & empowers those we serve to find resources & address the issues underlying food insecurity.

"RVFB stands as a trusted community resource, serving as Seattle’s busiest food bank. Together, we create a place to grow access, knowledge, & stability. Your support provides fresh, culturally relevant produce for our guests, brings students & their families to the table over nourishing meals, & empowers those we serve to find resources & address the issues underlying food insecurity. Research shows that one in seven people struggle with hunger in Seattle. That number is even higher for communities of color; for example, African Americans and Hispanics are 38% and 21% more likely to experience food insecurity than white populations. Furthermore, over 80% of elementary students in southeast Seattle schools qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and over 60% of households in some southeast neighborhoods are far below the federal poverty line." Friends of the Children’s mission is to accelerate generational change by identifying youth facing the toughest challenges and connecting them with professional mentors who guide them to develop their greatest potential and achieve their goals.

At Friends of the Children - Seattle (Friends-Seattle), we start early, when a child is eager to learn and grow, but needs the consistency and guidance of a professional mentor; and we stay with them for over 12 years – from kindergarten through high school graduation, no matter what.
