Our Story

How We Started

Our story began in 2020 during a worldwide pandemic, with a love for local businesses, community, and quality local products.

From the early days of creating Ember Community Kits, we’ve been clear on our commitment to contribute to and support the local community. Every single kit sold provides a pound of food or other non-perishable goods for a local food bank or organization in need. 

Together, we can create better and stronger communities while getting to know and supporting our local businesses.

Who We Are

We are business partners Sarah and Iwona. We met in a birth class in 2016 and have remained friends ever since.
Entrepreneurs at heart, Sarah tends to have ideas (both good and bad) and Iwona, with her enthusiasm, is always able to take these ideas to the next level!

We have considered many different business ventures before, but with the Ember Community Kits concept, we were both smitten. It might seem strange to be eager to start a business during a pandemic, but we are all-in! We were thinking about a way to help support our local communities and organizations in need, keep Seattle businesses and makers that we love so much going strong through a pandemic and beyond, and put a smile on peoples' faces! 

This idea was born and fulfills a desire we both have to support local businesses and real food, build a vibrant community, deliver joy to people's homes, and support those in need all in one.

Ember Community Kits' Mission

We exist to support local business and build community while delivering high-quality products to customers’ doorsteps. We create a symbiotic relationship between local businesses and our community while supporting nonprofit organizations that need our help. 

We chose Ember as our name, as it reminds us of campfire, bringing people closer together, and providing a spark of joy in our lives.
